Pokémon Go x Ed Sheeran - how silly can it get?

Update November 18, 2021: Information on the Ed Sheeran event in Pokémon Go with promo code

is now available and yes, he really will sing ^^Original post on

November 16, 2021: Is this going to be like Game of Thrones or something, when there was suddenly Ed Sheeran sitting around the campfire? Just recently, the Pokémon Go account retweeted a tweet from Ed Sheeran's account announcing a collaboration between Ed Sheeran and Pokémon Go; under the hashtag #PokemonGOxEdSheeran.

Ed Sheeran ... might be singing in Pokémon Go?

For example, after the talented singing Pokémon Meloetta

came into the game and fans were able to put together their own band via special research for Pokémon Go Fest 2021, it wouldn't be super off-putting now to have Ed Sheeran warbling something in Niantic's game.

Past collaborations with the likes of Gucci x The North Face and Longchamps suggest otherwise, but ... those are just stores that design clothes and accessories. Ed Sheeran, on the other hand, recently released his new album "=" on October 29, 2021.

Ed Sheeran ... makes Avatar clothes?

So an official explanation of this tweet is still pending and will probably be a little while coming. Since the collaborations with Pokémon Go are mostly about printing iconic Pokémon symbols or silhouettes on items, it could perhaps be assumed that Ed Sheeran now wants to bring Pokémon-branded clothes to the inclined fan in his fan store

...... or whatnot! Since there have been no collaborations with a singer or band yet, the possibilities are virtually endless. We're curious to see what's going on - and also whether there's something behind the Ed Sheeran co-op that all fans of Pokémon Go can afford (because sorry, some of the other clothes were already unspeakably expensive ...)
